Signs your deck needs attention
Minnesota weather is tough on decks. Snow, ice, and years of freeze-thaw cycles loosen fasteners, rot wood, and shift footings. It's time for a closer look if you notice soft or spongy boards, railings that wobble, posts that lean, rusted hardware, or boards pulling away where the deck meets the house. Catching problems early usually means a smaller, less expensive fix.
Deck repairs
Not every worn deck needs to come down. We replace damaged deck boards, reinforce or replace weak joists, swap out corroded fasteners and hardware, rebuild stairs, and tighten or replace railings. The goal is to restore the deck to solid, like-new condition and fix the cause of the damage, not just the symptoms.
Repair or replace?
If the framing is sound, repairs and new surface boards can give a deck many more years. If the structure itself is compromised — rotted joists or ledger board, undersized footings, or framing that no longer meets code — replacement is usually the safer and smarter investment. We'll look at the whole structure, explain what we find, and give you a written estimate for the option that makes sense.
Full tear-out and replacement
When a deck is past saving, we handle the full tear-out and rebuild with frost-depth footings, modern code-correct framing, and weather-ready materials. A replacement is also a chance to rethink the space: a different size or shape, composite decking from Trex or TimberTech instead of wood, new railings, or wider stairs.
